Wikipedia - Derde Divisie

The Derde Divisie (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈdɛrdə diˈvizi]; English: Third Division), formerly known as Topklasse (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈtɔpklɑsə]; English: Top Class), is the fourth tier of football in the Netherlands, which had its inaugural season as a third tier in 2010–11 and as a fourth tier in 2016–17. The league is placed between the Tweede Divisie and the Vierde Divisie (formerly Hoofdklasse), the third and fifth tiers of Dutch football, respectively. The introduction of the then Topklasse resulted from discussions between the Royal Dutch Football Association, the Coöperatie Eerste Divisie (the clubs in the Eerste Divisie) and the Centraal Overleg Hoofdklassers (the clubs in the Hoofdklasse).

The Netherlands Derde Divisie is a prominent amateur soccer league in the Netherlands, serving as the fourth tier of the Dutch football league system. Established in 2016, it replaced the former Topklasse and has since become a vital platform for aspiring clubs and players to showcase their talent and compete at a high level.

The league features a diverse array of teams from across the country, including both established clubs and emerging local sides, fostering a competitive spirit and community engagement. Matches are held in various stadiums, offering fans an intimate and passionate atmosphere as they support their teams.

The Derde Divisie is divided into two main sections: the Derde Divisie Zaterdag (Saturday) and the Derde Divisie Zondag (Sunday), allowing clubs to choose their preferred matchday. Each season culminates in a thrilling battle for promotion to the Tweede Divisie, where the top teams earn the opportunity to ascend to a higher level of competition.

With a focus on development, sportsmanship, and community involvement, the Netherlands Derde Divisie not only highlights the rich football culture of the Netherlands but also serves as a crucial stepping stone for players and clubs aiming for greater success in the world of Dutch football.
