Wikipedia - AVS Futebol SAD

AVS Futebol SAD is a Portuguese professional football club currently playing in the Liga Portugal Betclic (the first tier of the Portuguese football league system). They are based in the town of Vila das Aves, and play in Estádio do CD Aves. Founded in 2023, the club comes from the renaming of former UD Vilafranquense SAD after moving to Vila das Aves.

History

The club was founded on 5 May 2023 after UD Vilafranquense's SAD relocated from Vila Franca de Xira to Vila das Aves due to poor stadium conditions. Vilafranquense went to the AF Lisboa district championships while Vilafranquense SAD (now AVS) secured their spot in the 2023–24 Liga Portugal 2. The new club has no relation to the defunct Clube Desportivo das Aves or its phoenix club Clube Desportivo das Aves 1930, apart from the sharing of its infrastructures. This situation is similar to the Belenenses and B-SAD case which happened in 2018.

In 2024, they made their debut in the top tier of Portuguese football by winning the playoff in Liga Portugal 2 after defeating Portimonense in promotion play-offs.

The AVS (A.D. Oliveirense) soccer team, based in Oliveira de Azeméis, Portugal, is a club steeped in rich history and tradition. Founded in 1938, AVS has become a prominent name in Portuguese football, known for its passionate fan base and competitive spirit. The team's colors, typically featuring a striking combination of red and white, symbolize their vibrant identity and commitment to excellence on the pitch.

AVS competes in the lower divisions of Portuguese football, showcasing a blend of emerging talent and experienced players. The club is dedicated to developing local talent and fostering a strong community connection, making it a beloved institution in the region. With a focus on teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship, AVS strives to achieve success while embodying the values of the beautiful game.

The team's home matches are held at the Estádio Municipal de Oliveira de Azeméis, where fans gather to support their players with unwavering enthusiasm. As AVS continues to build on its legacy, it remains a symbol of pride for its supporters and a key player in the landscape of Portuguese football.
